0459. sentosa had lost its appeal to me. as if our island nation is not enough an isle by itself, the southern recreational piece of reclaimed land doesnt need to become a seperate city. but it jolly well could. soon, it might be able to run its own GDP (mainly from hotelier and casino revenue) with its own private citizenship, sentosan, boasting a population of up to 1000.

jokes aside, with the IRs coming up strong (if you count piles of grand-gambling-hall-to-be dirt and half buried foundation steel bars strong) on the northern waterfront of sentosa, the islander's paradise will one day inevitably transform a gambler's haven. the rest of the original attractions will relegate to become secondary. or worse... ornamental.

beach going has got a brand new meaning too now with chill spots like cafe del mar popping up on siloso sands and km8 on tanjong beach. throw in alcoholic drinks and heavy bass music with the hawt vibes; the seaside turns into a mass orgy ala zoukout. whatever happened to good old "suntan vacation family day"?

sigh. the world is indeed changing. we need to keep up with time. meanwhile, sentosa had better keep up with saving its heritage... before 40 years of obsolete canons and underwater walks are lost to the future gambits and clubbers.

not so mcuh the change in the look and feel of sentosa but a changing world. there was a time when people enjoyed the tacky attractions and theme parks and shows, now it seems that all people want to do is buy expensive drinks and desserts and gamble.

not that i want to be racist, but i spotted a lot of foreign workers of a certain race populating the beach spots in attire very unusual of beach goers...

just makes you wonder the real reason why they paid the 3 bucks entrance fee. haha.
