1042. i no longer live at the most western point on my little sunny island, at least on the mrt lines that is.
new rules had been made this morning at the station to direct the massive flux of commuters to board the train on a single side of the platform. this was to ensure that the passengers are conditioned NOT to wait for the east bound train on both sides like they used to. it had always been a special station because the trains that came in could end up on both platforms because there were no more stops from that point and beyond.
starting 15 feb, which was yesterday, the east bound train will arrive from the extended stations on the west side. a few pros and cons:
pros being that the station wont be as packed as it used to be during the morning commute as the mrt users will be spread out between the extended stops beyond boon lay.
cons being that the station will no longer be the first or the last... meaning seats will be scarce as people would have boarded the mrt from the extended stops.
what used to be a busy station, bustling with commuters of different races, will now become a mere station for folks visiting the mall and those staying on the outskirts of the "true west".
maybe i should start taking the morning train towards tuas, the final stop on the west front now, just to ensure that i get to sit all the way to the station at my work place.
then again, who would forfeit that extra 20 minutes worth of snoozing on the bed?
